Peter Hasson
(english version )
Peter Hasson lives and works out of his studio in a small seaside village on the Puget
Sound in the Pacific Northwest.
Regarding his work he says:
“I don’t have one fixed style or work in a single discipline. I prefer to let my curiosity
lead me from one body of work to the next. Playing with new mediums keeps me
open to the beauty of the accidental happenings that can occur from a beginner’s
mind. The one thing that has remained constant for me throughout the years is that,
art saves me from my thinking. Part of my process for the last 25 years has
been to sketch the images I see in cracks and stains on weathered walls and
discarded, decaying objects, using them as starting points for new paintings and
monoprints. A few of years ago I made an accidental segue into the world of digital
photography. For my travels, I added a digital camera to my list of cameras. I thought I
was going to shoot the typical tourist sights, but instead, my eye was attracted to the
same things I’d been sketching. I began to paint with my camera. While focusing in on
small areas of deterioration, I started seeing compositions of landscapes, churches,
animals and humanoids. All the photos are the results of natural happenings, not
created or manipulated by filters or computer software. These marks and blemishes
that normally go unnoticed, stop me with their beauty.”
The size of the giclèe prints are 13”x19” and are made with archival inks and paper
